Rick Aristotle Munarriz has a good article online at the moment at Motley Fool about Baidu breaking into the NASDAQ top 100.
Baidu is now the first Chinese company ever to be added to the NASDAQ index. It entered the Top 100 Monday when its stock rose 3.3 percent in trading.
In China Baidu is easily the most popular search engine, out performing Google, MSN, and other home grown search engines by large margins.
Aaron Katsman points out in his blog that the entrance of Baidu into the NASDAQ Top 100 is as big a deal for China stocks in general as for Baidu in particular.
This is exactly what Joe Tucci, Chairman and CEO of EMC Corporation thinks about outsourcing.
This is what the CEO has to say in this kind of business strategy:
“I think outsourcing is an overused word. I think what you are going to see more of is companies willing to outsource a business process. So, for instance, in EMC we outsource all our payroll, but we outsource the entire process, not just the IT process. So I think you are going to see a lot more of that. I think you are not going to see wholesale take everything. I think that market is slowing down.”
I totally agree with Joe Trucci is saying because not all companies could benefit from outsourcing and outsourcing everything does not necessarily solve everything. It would be benefecial if “selective outsourcing” would be implemented. This means that only tasks that are eligible for outsourcing should be outsourced hence the good outcome.
Known carcinogens permitted in soda for 15 years! Eating or drinking foods containing high levels of benzene can cause vomiting, irritation of the stomach, dizziness, sleepiness, convulsions, and death.
The major effects of benzene are chronic (long-term) exposure through the blood. Benzene damages the bone marrow and can cause a decrease in red blood cells, leading to anemia. It can also cause excessive bleeding and depress the immune system, increasing the chance of infection.
Biological oxidation and carcinogenic activity
One way of understanding the carcinogenic effects of benzene is by examining the products of biological oxidation. Pure benzene, for example, oxidizes in the body to produce an epoxide, benzene oxide, which is not excreted readily and can interact with DNA to produce harmful mutations
Water-fuel car unveiled in Japan
Japanese company Genepax presents its eco-friendly car that runs on nothing but water.
The car has an energy generator that extracts hydrogen from water that is poured into the car’s tank. The generator then releases electrons that produce electric power to run the car. Genepax, the company that invented the technology, aims to collaborate with Japanese manufacturers to mass produce it.
